Troop Spotlight: Troop 3631 Silver Award

Congrats to GS Troop 3631. The Silver Project “Low Maintenance Garden at Parsons Elementary School” was selected out of 250 projects to be recognized an excellent example of a Take Action Project Model. Caroline Lester, Andrea Fairchild, and Mary Kate Phillips of Troop 3631 will be recognized as 2019 Girl Scout of Greater Atlanta Young Women of Distinction. They will be attending the 2019 Gold Award Ceremony to be pinned with a CYWOD pin. They also will have their picture and project writeup in the Gold Award Yearbook. Here is the write up:

“Parsons Elementary School’s garden was overgrown with weeds and dying; PTA asked us to create a low maintenance garden. We worked every weekend over the school year on this project. White rocks were placed in planters. Bricks were painted to look like children’s books. A directional sign with whimsical destinations was added to the space. Herbs, tulips and daffodils were also planted. With this garden, we hoped to inspire elementary students to read classic children’s books and learn about nature.”
